Wedding Shoes – For The Bride, For The Groom

Wedding shoes are an important element of your wedding day ensemble.

We all know we shop for shoes based on how they look and fit.

For your wedding, there is a third element you need to include. How long can you stand, walk, and dance in the shoes you first put on 6 hours before your wedding ceremony?

Standing

As the wedding officiant, I stand in the chuppah with all my wedding couples. A Jewish ceremony can last 20–30 minutes. Although it goes fast, with the wrong shoes, it can become uncomfortable to stand.

Walking

The first look! Each couple is now walking to the spot their wedding photographer had chosen for the first look. The magical photos of the two of you and only the two of you. These are the photos you will look at for years. All about you. You dreamed of your look with your shoes, dress and veil. For the groom’s choice of shoes will certainly complete the look too!

Comfort

A comfortable shoe is going to be the most important decision after the design features. Is the shoe just the right height that accents your ankles and shins? It’s not too high, so you can walk and stand for many hours.

Would you believe the most comfortable wedding white shoes with style and grace is the block heel? Its true! You have the winning wedding shoes! I even have my original comfortable wedding shoes with the block heel. They still fit!

An Extra Tip

With a block heel, the front part of the shoe, the sole, needs to be thicker with extra support. Ever notice that thin piece of the shoe? It’s perplexing how shoe designers forget the pressure in that one spot when us women are wearing heels. This prevents that part of your foot to hurt. There is hope at your local shoemaker. They can add that extra layer for an affordable price and saving your feet from that numbing pain on your wedding day. It is called a ‘half sole.’ Before you purchase your white wedding shoes, be sure the sole is not rubber.  A half sole from a shoemaker is not possible. Wear your dream shoe on your special day in comfort and support!

Is the bottom sole sliding on the floor? Purchase the anti-slip shoe grips. For your first dance and the entire night on the dance floor, those affordable grips will let you enjoy your wedding reception.

Shoe Stretchers

Did you know you can break in your shoes by using an official shoe stretcher? This product will be one of your best purchases. Stretching a shoe’s width will certainly meet the comfort requirement. Your toes will thank you!

Groom Shoe Guide

Slip-on shoes is great, but stay away from the velvet tuxedo shoes. Especially, if you are breaking the glass under the chuppah!  The sole is soft and rubber. The glass shards can splatter right into the fabric part of the shoe. How do I know? It happened to one of my grooms in the chuppah. Good news, he was fine, but seeing shards of glass pierced into his shoe is a sight a rabbi never wants to see.

Happy shoe shopping!

Happy wedding day!
