Kosher Style Reception

January 7, 2013 By jwrdirector

Wedding Reception Menu

Wedding Reception Menu

Question:
Can I offer as hors d’oeuvres: 1) chicken satay and 2) polenta cake with mushroom ragu at the same time (hand passed)

Answer
Kosher style will still follow the no mixing of dairy and meat. As long as the recipes prepared by the Chef or Caterer does not contain dairy ingregients, then Chicken and polenta cake is fine.

This is where the bride and groom request a meeting with the Caterer’s Chef to discuss the menu stressing the no mixing of dairy in the recipes. It’s your wedding and today with food allergies, gluten intolerance, vegan, vegetarians to name a few, the caterers today should be more than accommodating a couple’s requests.

A wedding couple, the bride and groom may not be able to make everyone happy with the wedding reception food menu, but it is always worth the effort to try to have an enjoyable day all around. The day will be beautiful by all the details, and when you are having a Jewish wedding, interfaith or not, the food of your heritage is often looked for by your guests. Another reminder of the beautiful traditions and customs of our faith.

Mazel Tov!
Rabbi Andrea Frank
