Bat Mitzvah Welcoming Shabbat

September 24, 2014 By jwrdirector

Mazel Tov! Jordan became a Bat Mitzvah!

An intimate, family and friends of the family gathering for her time honored ceremony.

Shabbat
Shabbat + Bat Mitzvah

On occasions, a request to have a Bat Mitzvah with the welcoming of Shabbat will take place. Reform congregations with the guidance of the Reform Movement will read Torah that evening. As my Grandmother would shout, “A Shanda!” However, to read Torah on Friday is serving a purpose. With the 90 plus Bar Bat Mitzvah taking place Shabbat Morning, those that wanted to attend Shabbat Services could do so on Friday night.  Not all Congregations have the many Spiritual Leaders to hold more than one Shabbat Service in the temple building.

Rabbi Andrea Frank continues just that with her Services for families unaffiliated from a temple or synagogue and without a connection to a Rabbi.

The Focus is the importance of connection.  Jordan and her family did just that and it was a beautiful evening.
